Girls, Do you take shorter guys seriously?

I'm 23 and 5'5" Often when out in bars, at college, in any kind of public place, I often feel that people my age don't take me seriously. A lot of guys have a superiority complex towards me, they'll ignore me while befriending other guys my age. And I know that most girls like a guy to be taller than them, so I feel like I'm wasting time even trying to talk to a girl let alone flirt. Overall I guess I feel people judge me too much on my appearance. I also feel like girls/guys my age are more willing to accept and hang out with average sized guys than me. I try to look more mature, but I feel like girls my age think I'm a joke cause I look so small compared to them, and they're girls! Most of the time I don't let it get to me, but then I see/hear girls relating to how they like a "big, strong, man" to sweep them off their feet. It's like girls put me in a whole different category than other guys. What do girls think of short guys, how do they feel about them?

I don't mind shorter guys as long as they don't suffer from Short Man's Complex. As to the people who can't look past your height, they aren't worth your time. Short people aren't short on character, necessarily. A friend of mine married two years ago. Her husband is five inches shorter than her, and they couldn't be happier. Use your height as a character gauge. If a girl isn't willing to talk to you, than obviously she's not worth dating or marriage.

Reply:I'm 18 and I'm 5'4". Don't feel like you're all alone. There are lots of girls out there who will go out with a guy shorter than them, but I would suggest going for girls close to your height, maybe 2 inches taller than yourself. Are you muscular at all? Even though I'm short, I wrestled in high school for 3 years so I'm more muscular than other guys that are bigger than me. I would suggest going to the gym and bulking up. Also, you need to have more confidence in yourself. Don't be afraid to approach girls, regardless of whether you feel smaller than them or not. You need to be comfortable and accept yourself the way you are.

By the way, look at celebrities such as Michael J Fox -- he is only 5'4" and has a beautiful wife! When Michael J Fox was in Family Ties and Back To The Future, teenage girls were clamoring to get their hands on him!

Reply:I'm 5.6" tall and my short stature had always been an impediment for achieving poise and self-confidence. It was about two years ago that I met my wife and we almost instantly made connection. She is about half an inch shorter than me but I would always feel a little insecure whenever she wore sandals. This would make her look much taller than myself. Not that anything wrong with that but society collectively feeds us with some stereotypes and a guy shorter than a woman would always raise eyebrows. My wife (who back then was my girlfriend) was conscious of myself being a little uneasy. She started coaching me on improving my dress coordination and also suggested that I should try wearing those walktall shoes. Doing a little research myself I gathered some info on stretching exercises. Although it’s true that exercises will not make you grow taller but it definitely helped me improve my posture. We certainly have more height hidden behind our slouched back and shabby dressing than we ever realize. There are some very basic stretching exercises and vertical fashion techniques that together can make a noticeable improvement in your height. And lastly it’s all a matter of perception. It all boils down to how we perceive ourselves. A better height can add to our confidence, but again, it’s our mind that perhaps makes us insecure. Some short dudes possess endless energy that makes their presence much taller than their height. Reply:Just try girls shorter than you; there are many girls shorter than 5'5", and many are super hot, like Cristina Ricci for example.





By the way, Tom Cruz is 5'5" (without shoes) and that doesn't stop him. You just need to grow more confidence. Girls really hate guys with poor self-esteem.
Reply:I feel sorry for short guys....because like you said...most women look for someone taller then them. I've never had a short guy approach me...but I know I'd be nice just like I would with anyone else. However, I do find men over 6 feet the most attractive. But it'll be the personality that wins out in the end.

Girls who make the statement about "big strong " men sweeping them off their feet, are usually living in a fantasy land, and are pretty shallow.





There are plenty of quality women out there, who could care less how tall you are, or actually prefer shorter guys.

Reply:personally, i dont mind them. picture this, my old boyfriend, max, was 18...and he was 5'2. But, i didnt care how short he was. he was a sweet heart, and if he wouldnt of moved away, i would still be with him right now. Shortness shouldnt have anything to do with what somebody sees' in you!

Reply:when i was in high school, college, there were a few short guys (shorter than you) who were popular, never at a loss for girlfriends. but that was a long time ago, so i think girls might be more shallow these days. but you wouldn't want a shallow girl anyways, would you?


i'm short too (5'tall) and size was never a determining factor. you don't have to be physically tall to be a strong man who can sweep a girl off her feet.


my dad was a short man, my mom taller than he was and he totally swept her off her feet! she adored him.


i think you are in good company with a lot of men of short stature who were great leaders in the world.
