Why are "girls" now called "women"?

Its now derogatory or sexist to call a girl, "girl" now. You have to call them "women". You know how people used to say girls and guys.... that is not allowed now. Unless ur a woman. Women are the only people allowed to call each other "girls". Girlfriend, girl power, girls nite out, girl this girl that.... But if a guy wanted to call a girl "girl" , u have to be very careful and check to make sure the "girl" in question is below 16 years old. Otherwise ur a..."bad" guy.

Why are "girls" now called "women"?
I'm 27 and I don't mind if people call me girl. the younger...the better!
Reply:Girls above 16 years , every girl wants to become young and be respected in society also they feel that girl is term used for teenagers so they feel more in command when treated as women which makes them feel mature.
Reply:17- YOU ARE A GIRL. 18+ YOU ARE A WOMAN.
Reply:wtf?!

who came up with that stupid law?

i'm a woman because i can maintain some emotional stability and maturity.

and i'm a girl because i want to forever remain young and not lack balance and be some tight faced wench look alike.

i have it balance between woman and girl... coz i know when to be grown up and i know when that doesnt apply...

go ahead

, GIRL me away!!! i'm happy to know my boyfriend can say "my girl" that my dad will always say "my baby girl" and that my male freinds can still say "wassup girl?"... i'm 22, but it says i'm still oozing youthfull energy...
Reply:Ok girls are girls and women are women I think a lot of girls look llike women now because of makeup and the clothes they wear but it hasnt changed , girls dont have to mean little girls but their still girls
Reply:I'm not sure how you got this idea, but it's not always true. I'm 23 but I don't mind being called a "girl". In fact, most of people I know calls me a "girl" for some reasons. Don't worry so much about it!
Reply:I've never gotten upset if someone called me "girl". I hear people of both genders use it all the time.

It's a casual term. I'm sure if you were in a business firm, it would be look down upon as too casual. Imagine if I walked up to a guy at a fax machine while at work and said, "Hey, boy, I need these papers faxed." It's ok if I know the person really well, but if it's a professional environment and I don't know the person well, it can be considered 'derogatory'.

Other then at an office, where is 'girl' not allowed? Who yelled at you? I don't know anyone how dislikes the term. It reminds me of youthfulness and energy,
Reply:Who cares. Everybody is a victim of something if they want to be. If someone tells you politely that they would prefer to be called a women, do be polite and call her a woman. A woman, or groups of women ranting and raving about this distinction. Don't you have anything more important to do than listen to people whining?
Reply:in this millineum, girls are now more adultly dressed and represented cos of their dressing and their views towards things in life generally, most are fully grown, cos of the realisation of how sweet money is .irrespective of the age.girls, ladies, women all love money.inserch of money all are grown.so when u refer to them s women they just wear a fake smile to cover their girly look.
Reply:If it was Guys and Gals it would be ok, but by calling an adult female a girl you are indicating that she is not an adult and therefore deriding her. Should all males be called boys? Nope, hence guys or men, and not boys. How stupid would you feel being old enough to have adult children and being referred to as a boy?

Personally, it doesn't bother me to be called a girl, but I do understand why it bothers some. I am a strong enough person to be called a girl and not be offended or made to feel less than I am.
Reply:ok i am bad
Reply:It depends on how the term "woman" is used and also the state of mine the woman or girl to whom you're talking.

If you say ." Girl, you're my woman" or "Woman, you're my girl"...both seem to be acceptable.

Then if you call a girl that considers herself a woman...offensive to the woman for sure. Now if you call another a woman and she feels that she's not old enough to be called woman or she thinks she's not an woman....offensive.

Complicated?

Yes!

I just call them "Baby" Stops all that!
Reply:How about?
