If many girls supposedly go for older guys, then why are so many going for anything but?

It's obvious that many girls go for older guys. In fact the last two girls that I dated were 18, and 19 years-old (I'am 22 by the way). From what I saw in High School, and in my first few years of college, was that many girls were dating older guys. However, lately, (especially in San Diego) I have seen that many younger girls will not date anyone a few years older than them. In fact many of the girls that I have met, and known at church and at SDSU will not even talk to guys who are a few years older than them, and when some of them do talk to the older guys (I have buddies at church who are 24), they do everything they can to make the conversation short. What's going on? Are younger girls now viewing older guys as creepy? Or has it been this way all along, meaning that only a few girls out there typically date older guys? Is this just the way So Cal girls are? Why is it that a nice 24 year old guy walks up to a younger girl at church and gets a wierd look or the cold shoulder?

take me, for example. i wouldn't date someone more than two years above me.


dont ask me why, i don't know.


it's just...... out of my comfort zone. and i like to be in my comfort zone. and yeah yeah, sometimes you have to reach out and do something exciting, but honestly, if i were approached by a guy, say, for example, 5 years older than me or something? i can't say i would take him to consideration.


somehow, whenever i see an older guy and i find myself attracted to him, i feel slightly worthless, because an older guy is much more harder to reach than a guy my age.


so i would say i'm a.... well, a wimp.


and i guess many other girls feel that way too.


but then again, it might be the way society is molded these days. i mean, come on! every single day there's a thing in the newspaper about molestors and creepy internet men that try to talk to younger girls. it's just.... scaring us.


i find myself a lot suspicious of older men lately, and i guess it's just a precaution, but i can see why this is disturbing to some guys who are just trying to be nice.


it's just the way of society.

Reply:Okay, I'm not a church going person, and personally I'd rather demolish them all than walk inside, but you can't be trying to score with pickup lines in a place that regularly denounces relationships and sex outside of marriage. Trying to turn church into a singles bar does come across and creepy.





Second, younger girls date older guys because most of the older guys have more money from better jobs. As a college student you have better job opportunities than a highschool graduate. My advice to you is watchout, they may only be with you because you buy them things.

maybe those girls want some fun and immaturity rather than a bf that will be so... well, old-fashioned in comparision. maybe they think older men ONLY think about their jobs and settling down and they still wanna have fun.
Reply:Hi Red: For a 22 year old young man, you are most definately NOT an older man to a 18 or 19 year old girl; and older man would be one in his late twenties or in his thirties. Ideally, a man should be a bit older than the woman - up to 10 years older is quite acceptable. It sounds to me that these girls you are trying to talk to are very immature and maybe even insecure. If a girl give you a wierd look or the cold shoulder, then she is not worthy of your attention, especially if you are indeed, a nice guy. Keep looking and don't be in a rush - you'll find that someone special. Good Luck JoAnn

Reply:The simple fact is, females tend to mature faster than males. My boyfriend is 28 and I am 23 - I did not at all go looking for someone older than me, but we fit so well.


If he were any younger or I was any older, him and I would not match so well.


For some girls its different reasons of course, but in many cases its the maturity factor.
