Schools, girls and boys sports?

Well, can a private (catholic) school be sued or anything for having more girls sports than boys sports? I am a boy, and I am in middle school. My school is K-8 grade and the students that play sports have to be in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade (unless we dont have enough kids, then we go to the lower grades) but my school has more girls sports than boys sports. Here are the sports: Ok, there is football for the boys, but it is not run by our school and even though there is football, girls can still be cheerleaders for them too. So it is like there is cheerleading at my school, but there is also cheerleading for the football team, which is not run by our school.

Schools, girls and boys sports?
What would you like to play?

Maybe you can find a teacher to sponsor that activity or find a group of interested students and try to peacefully start an activity for boys.
Reply:Have you gone to the school and asked if they would make these programs? Also, there are club sports that are not through the school. I know my k8 school had basketball, and volleyball. So stop whining, soccer, baseball, football, track, weightlifting, and rugby were available as club sports.

The school has no responsibility to offer these things, you need to try to make a petition to start a new sport. Find a sport you want to play, find a bunch of people to play it with at your school, and ask the school if they will sponsor it.

Also, if you do make a team, is there going to be anyone to play?
Reply:What sports would you like to see? If it's just a matter of having equal sports, that's no reason to be upset. But if there sports teams you would like to see, and you feel there's enough interest to justify having a team, talk to a teacher or submit a proposal to the principal. And no, they can't be sued for having more girls' sports. Wouldn't that be really expensive and stressing to take to court, anyway? I know that in the states, if a girl wants to play on a team but there's not enough interest for a girls' team, she's allowed (by law!) to play on the guys' team. I'm not sure if that works the other way, but I don't see why not. If however, you balk at the thought of playing against a girl, I guess you don't really want to play the sport all that badly, huh? But anyways, I'd start by talking to a teacher and seeing if you can get enough support from other students as well. Who knows, more guys may be bothered by this than you think! Best of luck to you!
Reply:No they cannot be sued.

A school committee would have decided what sports are relevant to that level.

This is generally made up of school personnel as well as parent input.

I say get a life and choose one of the sports available to you.
